The incident resulted in the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Formal charges have been brought against two men following a suitcase robbery where a suspected pepper spray led to people being hurt at the UK's busiest airport.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, are accused of two robbery charges and two counts of deploying a toxic agent, authorities have stated.

The charges follow an investigation into an attack at the parking structure at Terminal 3 on the weekend. Before the assault occurred, two female travelers had their suitcases taken after exiting a parking garage elevator, authorities reported.

A toddler was among those injured in the event. Several persons required hospital care and were subsequently released.

This event – which authorities stated was a standalone event and not being treated as terrorism – led to disruptions to rail services and the temporary blocking of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a short time.
