'Trapped in a Dreadful Dream': Loved Ones of Missing Teenagers Await Answers After Ski Resort Fire

The loved ones of young people missing after a devastating inferno at a venue in a Switzerland's alpine town are facing an agonising wait for confirmed information and appealing for information about their loved ones publicly.

The inferno ripped through the Le Constellation bar in Cans-Montana, located in the mountains of the Valais region, in the early hours of January 1st. Circulated images depict the roof structure catching alight as bottles with sparklers are raised in celebration.

Officials have indicated that it could take an extended period to formally name the victims of the disaster, which resulted in the death of numerous partygoers and hurt another 119. Authorities said on Friday that the majority of the injured have been identified, with work ongoing to name the other six.

In the waiting period, families and friends have been using social media to plead for clues about their loved ones who were in attendance that night.

Heartbreaking Pleas for the Unaccounted For

The fate of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, sixteen, are not yet determined, according to an public plea from his parent.

The resident of Lutry near Lausanne, explained to a local newspaper that she had returned to Lausanne to see if he was in the medical facility, while his other parent did the same in Bern, but did not locate him.

"It feels like a terrible dream, a nightmare. The options are finding my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in a serious state. Words cannot describe it," she told the paper.

She added that some of his companions had been discovered with burns covering nearly half their bodies. "It's indescribable; they went through an absolute nightmare."

The Italy's government has confirmed that a number of of its nationals remain missing.

Teenage sportsman Emanuele Galeppini, sixteen, was last heard from around the turn of the new year on December 31st, his father said.

Included in that group is Emanuele Galeppini, a 16-year-old sportsman, originally from Italy but now residing in the UAE.

The national sporting body has released a tribute that he is dead, without directly referencing the fire, paying tribute to a "young athlete who carried with him passion and true sportsmanship."

His parent, is quoted as saying that his son was at the bar and was last heard from around midnight. An representative has stated that a official announcement of his death is still pending.

Further Missing Individuals

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is likewise among the missing. His mother said that he had been on holiday but had ventured out with a group and found himself at the venue.

"A close friend informed me they ran away after the fire started and that he had his phone with him, but then at a specific moment he they were separated," she said, adding he had been wearing a identifiable piece of jewelry.
