A man from Australia who vaulted across a fence and reached for actress Ariana Grande has been deported and barred from Singapore.

Johnson Wen, 26, was sentenced to more than a week in jail for disrupting public order and has now been "barred from re-entering Singapore," the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority told local media.

Wen pushed past photographers and approached aggressively the celebrity, who was participating in the Asian premier for Wicked: For Good on November 13. Co-performer Cynthia Erivo pulled him back from Grande.

He has a background of causing disturbances at events and celebrity events, including rushing the stage at a Katy Perry performance in Sydney in the past June.

The incident sparked outrage in Singapore, with several individuals claiming he of triggering past trauma for the singer.

Grande has not addressed the case.

Cynthia Erivo discussed the incident to the press, remarking that she "only aimed to verify my colleague was safe."

"I believe he had no intention to us harm, but you cannot be certain with these incidents, and I aimed to confirm that she was fine. That was my initial reaction," she commented.
