The Liverpool midfielder has revealed that Salah expressed regret to the team following the uproar from his public comments.

Salah was left out from a key Champions League match following criticising the club and suggesting his rapport with Arne Slot had deteriorated.

“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I apologise.’”

The head coach has refused to comment publicly on whether he got an explanation from the player.

The player stated that the squad's reaction remained positive. “He was the exact same Mo, he had a big smile on his face and everybody was exactly the same with him,” Jones added.

He also implied that a player's desire to start is a positive trait. “I understand there are specific approaches you can express yourself,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just be on the bench, then I think that’s more of an issue.”

The team's performance have stayed unbeaten in the games following the interview fallout. The player is convinced the forward's comments were not intended to cause disruption.
