Arne Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Has Liverpool's Backing After PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it's expected for doubts to be asked about his position following another heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their 9th loss in 12 matches, representing the team's worst streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I have got a lot of backing from the top,” the coach commented.

“It's important to change things and secure a win obviously but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it's expected that people question you.”

He added, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to expand on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach explained:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me constantly each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “Through standard conversations we have I feel the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them after this game so far so we'll see.”

Familiar Issues and Player Response

Slot lamented familiar weaknesses from his squad in their Champions League loss, namely missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I’m past being angry inside. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He continued, “It's tough because I play for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side going through a period like this with outcomes this poor.”

He concluded, “However we still have that badge on our chest. And until that badge is removed, we’re always going to battle.”

“Our aim is to get this team back to its rightful place, demonstrate to all again the values of this club and why people call it the top club in the world.”

“However currently, things are bad and it needs to change.”
